The Urge to Purge

Junk my friends! The urge to purge junk in my life. I've mentioned before that my household is a little unorganized, my daughters room is in shambles. But I've failed to mention that we have a Attic stuffed to the gills with junk as well as a container (yes, a moving container) filled with junk as well. I've become almost obsessed with the notion of purging all of our junk. To SIMPLIFY! Ahhh, I just took a deep breath with that word. Interesting how my body reacted as I wrote the above. I could feel my blood pressure increase, my breathing became tight and shallow. Can you imagine living for 15+ years with this gargantuan collection of junk hanging on your back? Well, I've had it!

I just don't know where to begin! Then I get overwhelmed... then that book shelf over there needs rearranging, (classic sidetrack maneuver) just don't look at that purple elephant of a mess in the middle of the room! LOL! I don't know if ANYONE can relate, but if you can....what steps have you taken to move forward to a life of simplicity ~ minus all the junk!

Sigh, darling, this is the story of my life!! I am a clutterbug for sure, but i've slowly started the decluttering process. As for simplifying, i'm mostly working on not bringing in new items into my space that i can't use up or isn't really valuable/special. It's a slow learning process!

I agree with Carolyn. It is a slow learning process. I am trying to spend 15 mins a day getting on top of the clutter in my study (whilst doing this I am keeping on top of incoming mail etc). I always find that moving helps me declutter and reevaluate my belongings (particularly the boxes in the attic - it is a bit drastic though!!!).

Just take baby steps. I like to start with the least assuming tasks first so I don't get frustrated and quit before I've barely even started. You can do it!!! :)

Stopping by from SITS!

If you need some help, I can give you a one page "Boot Camp Rules" that help you decide what to do and how to do it when it comes to organizing your space and your life. Let me know. Just remember....once you've got everything in order, if you bring anything into the house, something has to go out.
