Done with Plastic

I realize that we've all become more aware of our consumables and if they are recyclable. I've started using reusable bags when grocery shopping, washing out my Ziploc bags instead of trashing them (unless raw meat was involved). I also reused my plastic water bottles throughout the day. I justified that instead of going through 6-8 water bottles a day, I was only using one. Then I noticed the pile of plastic water bottles accumulating in our recyclable bin. I was convinced that I can do better than that! Then I read Carolyn's blog and Alison's blog and realized that I had the necessary tools to change my ways! I spent a wonderful weekend back in March with my best friend at the Natural Products Expo-West and received a free water bottle! What then I thought was neat, now I think is brilliant! Today I brought my new found treasure to work and have been refilling it with joy!

merci for the shout-out and YAY for reusable bottles!! i used to love nothing more than buying a giant bottle of Fiji or Smartwater, but once i changed my ways, i've found it hard to go back. The only times i buy bottled water now are when i'm in airports!

Thanks also for the shout out. I also only use plastic at airports now... reusable for me when I can (& trying to persuade nubby of the same!). Love your bottle...

Plastic bottles are also questionable when it comes to your health as recent studies have shown them to leach bisphenol A or BPA.

Canada has banned the use of BPA in baby bottles in 2008.

If you want to read more about the May 2009 study at Harvard go here:

Karmacoy - great point! There are so many possible issues with plastics leaching into your foods & beverages! Scarry to think of all those decades of eating prepared foods in plastic, microwaving them -ech!
